What is Blended Learning?

Blended Learning is a Great Approach to Corporate Education and Training

Technology has been rapidly changing and evolving in the 21st century.

Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, technology was put to the test as much of the world went virtual. Office workers began having virtual phones, meeting rooms, and workspaces; schools began having Zoom classes for children; and friends and family were gathering for game nights or holiday celebrations via video chat. While online learning has been around for decades, it really took off in the past few years and is now the preferred way to learn for a growing number of people. However, many others are still accustomed to attending training, meetings, and classes in person and find that they get more out of an in-person setting. These two different approaches are why many are leaning towards blended learning for training and educational needs.

What is Blended Learning?

Blended learning is an approach to learning that combines both traditional in-person classroom methods and virtual education methods. It is also known as hybrid learning because it combines what many would consider to be the best of both worlds – the convenience and organizational benefits of e-learning and online materials with the hands-on and highly personal benefits of in-person classroom learning. It is becoming a more common learning and training method since it embraces new technology and also sticks to the traditional classroom setting.

The Noverant Learning Management System

Here at Noverant, we have designed a Learning Management System (LMS) that helps you manage all of your information, training, and compliance programs all in one place. This makes the blended learning much easier to organize and maintain. Not only does our system work across multiple industries, but it works for businesses of different sizes including small businesses, enterprise organizations, and government agencies.

The Benefits of Using Blended Learning for Corporate Training

While many schools and educational facilities are now using blended learning methods, so are businesses and corporate training programs. When you are training employees, you want to provide them with an engaging learning experience that adapts to different learning styles. Plus, saving on the cost of training expenses is a huge plus that blended learning offers.

Create Engaging Content for Your Employees

The online training materials provided in blended learning methods are often very engaging. For example, if an employee can watch a webinar, a video, or use an interactive program, it is more engaging than a piece of paper. This will keep them attentive to what they are supposed to be learning, benefiting both the employer and employee in the long run.

Incorporate Different Learning Styles

Corporate training programs need to be flexible for a few different reasons. First, they need to consider the fact that different learners engage better with different styles of learning. While some people might learn better with an engaging and straightforward e-learning program, others will learn better with an in-person training where they can ask live questions and connect with others.

Allow Flexibility for Time-Management

These programs also need to be flexible for the sake of time management. Particularly current or even newly-promoted employees will have other work to do aside from the training that they are receiving. The flexibility of hybrid learning allows them to balance their workload because they can do the e-learning portion of the training program on their own time, when it best fits each of their respective schedules.

Reduce Training Costs

Finding ways to save on unnecessary costs is always a good thing! One of the best benefits of blended learning is that it can help reduce the cost of in-person training. Not only does it rely less on the face-to-face instructors, but it also reduces the subsequent expenses of their accommodation and travel costs, as well as the cost of printing and other materials.
